Deploying Driver-side AIR Bag Module

  1. Clear space on ground 6 feet (1.8 m) in diameter (paved outdoor location is recommended). Ensure no loose or flammable objects are within deployment area. Place driver-side air bag module in center of deployment area with trim cover facing upwards.
  2. Using Deployment Harness (09932-75030), short the 2 deployment harness leads together by fully seating one banana plug into the other. Connect deployment harness connector to air bag module connector. Lock connector with lock lever. Stretch harness to its full length of 33 feet (10 m).
    CAUTION: Air bag will deploy immediately when power source is connected. Deployment wires must remain shorted and not be connected to power source until air bag is to be deployed. Connecting deployment wires to power source should always be the final step in deployment procedure.
  3. Separate the 2 banana plugs on deployment harness. Connect harness to a 12-volt battery to immediately deploy driver-side air bag module. DO NOT touch air bag module for 30 minutes due to heat generated during deployment. Wear gloves and safety glasses while handling a deployed air bag. Wash hands with soap and water afterward.
