Diagnosis & Repair Procedure

  1. Perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If DTC P0451 is set, go to next step. If DTC P0451 is not set, problem is intermittent. System is okay at this time. See TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
  2. Remove FTP sensor from fuel tank. Check FTP sensor vent hole and pressure passage for plugging. Clean as necessary. If no problem is found, go to next step.
  3. Check FTP sensor performance. See FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article. Replace as necessary and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If FTP sensor is okay, check for high resistance in Brown/Red, Gray/Red or Gray/Yellow wire between FTP sensor and PCM. If wires are okay, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect FTP sensor connector and PCM 35- connector E61. Check for poor terminal contact at FTP sensor connector and PCM 35- connector E61. If poor terminal contact is found, repair as necessary and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If terminal contact is okay, replace PCM and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST .
