Diagnosis & Repair Procedure

  1. Perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If DTC P0113 is set, go to next step. If DTC P0113 is not set, problem is intermittent. System is okay at this time. See TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
  2. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select IAT parameter. If scan tool displays -40°F (-40°C), go to next step. If scan tool does not display -40°F (-40°C), problem is intermittent. System is okay at this time. See TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect IAT sensor connector. Check for poor terminal contact at IAT sensor connector. If poor terminal contact is found, repair as necessary and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If terminal contact is okay, turn ignition switch on and measure voltage at between ground and IAT sensor harness connector Light Blue wire terminal. If reading is between 4-6 volts, go to step  5. If reading is not 4-6 volts, to next step.
  4. Check for open or short to power in Light Blue wire between PCM 26-pin connector C51-3 terminal No. 1 and IAT sensor. Repair as necessary. If wire is okay, disconnect PCM 26-pin connector C51-3. Check for poor terminal contact at PCM 26-pin connector C51-3. If poor terminal contact is found, repair as necessary and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If terminal contact is okay, replace PCM and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST .
  5. Turn ignition off. Connect a fused jumper wire between IAT sensor harness connector terminals. Turn ignition on. If scan tool displays 302°F (150°C), replace IAT sensor and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If scan tool does not display 302°F (150°C), go to next step.
  6. Check for open in Blue/White wire between PCM 26-pin connector C51-3 terminal No. 25 and IAT sensor. If wire is okay, check for poor terminal contact at PCM 26-pin connector C51-3. If poor terminal contact is found, repair as necessary and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If terminal contact is okay, replace PCM and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST .
