Retrieving Diagnostic Trouble Codes

DTCs are retrieved using a Tech 2 or other OBD-II compatible scan tool connected to a 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure. DLC is located below right side of steering wheel, accessible from driver's side. Follow scan tool manufacturer's instructions when retrieving DTCs. Diagnose DTCs according to there chronological order. If a chronological order can not be established, diagnose DTCs testing DTCs P0171 and P0172 first, DTC P0300-P0304 next and DTC P0400 last.
