Diagnosis & Repair Procedure
- Perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If DTC P0122 is set, go to next step. If DTC P0122 is not set, problem is intermittent. System is okay at this time. See TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
- Check for DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC P0107, P0122 and P0450 are set, check for an open in Light Green wire between PCM 16-pin connector C22 terminal No. 1 and TP sensor connector terminal No. 2. See Figure. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Repair as necessary and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If DTC P0107, P0122 and P0450 are not present and/or Light Green wire is okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, observe throttle valve opening percentage parameter. If parameter reads 2 percent or less, go to next step. If parameter reads more than 2 percent, problem is intermittent. System is okay at this time. See TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect TP sensor connector. Check for poor terminal contact at TP sensor connector. If poor terminal contact is found, repair as necessary and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If terminal contact is okay, turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and TP sensor harness connector terminal No. 2 (Light Green wire) and No. 3 (Light Green/White wire), individually. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If voltage is 4-6 volts at each wire, go to step 7. If voltage is not 4-6 volts at either wire, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM 16-pin connector C22. Check for poor terminal contact at PCM 16-pin connector C22. If poor terminal contact is found, repair as necessary and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If terminal contact is okay, check for open or short to ground in Light Green wire between TP sensor connector and PCM 16-pin connector C22 terminal No. 1. See Figure. Go to next step.
- Also check for short to ground in Light Green/White wire and Light Green/Black wire between TP sensor connector and PCM 16-pin connector C20 terminals No. 6 and No. 9. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Repair as necessary and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST .
- Measure resistance between specified TP sensor terminals as illustrated. See Figure. Resistance between TP sensor terminals No. 1 and No. 2 should be 2.5-6 ohms and between TP sensor terminals No. 1 and No. 3 should be 100-20,000 ohms (depending on throttle angle). If resistance is not as specified, replace TP sensor and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If resistance is as specified, replace PCM and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST .
