DTC P0108: Manifold Absolute Pressure (Map) Sensor Circuit High Input

NOTE: If DTC P0108, P0113, P0118, P0123 and/or P0450 are set together, check PCM harness connector "B" terminal No. 9 (Green/Red wire on Esteem, or Light Green/Black wire on Swift) for an open circuit.
  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Select MAP sensor parameter. If display reads 130 kPa or greater, go to next step. If display reading is less than 130 kPa, check for an intermittent problem. Go to TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect MAP sensor harness connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and Green wire (Esteem) or Orange/Green wire (Swift) at MAP sensor harness connector. If reading is 4-6 volts, go to next step. If reading is not 4-6 volts, check wire for an open circuit or a poor connection at PCM 16-pin harness connector "B". If wiring and connections are okay, replace PCM and retest system.
  3. With ignition on, measure voltage between ground and MAP sensor harness connector (Pink/Green wire on Esteem, or Light Green wire on Swift). If reading is 4-6 volts, go to next step. If reading is not 4-6 volts, check wire for a short to power, or for a poor connection at PCM 16-pin harness connector "B". If wiring and connections are okay, replace PCM and retest system.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect vacuum hose from MAP sensor. Remove MAP sensor. Connect three 1.5 volt batteries in series. Connect positive terminal of batteries to VOLTAGE IN terminal at MAP sensor. Connect negative terminal of batteries to GROUND terminal at MAP sensor. See Figure .
  5. Test map sensor operation. Go to MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE (MAP) SENSOR - ESTEEM & SWIFT under ENGINE SENSORS & SWITCHES in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article. Replace map sensor as necessary. Replace MAP sensor as necessary. If MAP sensor tests as specified, go to next step.
  6. On Esteem, check Pink/Green wire for being shorted to Green wire and check Green/Red wire for an open. On Swift, check Light Green wire for being shorted to Orange/Green wire and check Light Green/Black wire for an open. Repair as necessary. If wiring is okay, check for poor connection at PCM. If PCM connection is okay, replace PCM. Retest system.
