Steering Column: Installation

  1. Connect lower steering shaft splines with universal joint on upper steering shaft. On A/T equipped models, turn ignition switch to ACC position. Connect shift lock cable to ignition switch. Turn ignition switch to Lock and tighten cable clamp screw.
  2. Install steering column upper and lower mount nuts. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Install universal joint bolt and tighten to specification.
  3. Reconnect steering column wiring harness connectors. Install knee bolster. Install contact coil/combination switch, steering wheel and air bag inflator module (if removed). Connect negative battery cable and enable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  .
