Idle Speed & Ignition Timing

Ensure idle speed and base ignition timing are set to specification. Refer to the IDLE SPEED SPECIFICATIONS  table below and the IGNITION TIMING  table below. If necessary, refer to the appropriate ADJUSTMENTS article for adjustment procedures.

IDLE SPEED SPECIFICATIONS (1)

Auto. Transaxle 750-850
Man. Transaxle 700-800
A/C On 850-950
(1) Transaxle or transmission in Neutral or Park.
IAC DUTY AT SPECIFIED IDLE SPEED (1)

Application (2) Percent
Esteem 30
(1) See IDLE SPEED SPECIFICATIONS  table.
(2) With A/C turned off (if equipped).
IGNITION TIMING (Degrees BTDC @ RPM) (1)

Esteem (2) 4-6 @ 700-800 (2) 4-6 @ 750-850
(1) See ADJUSTMENTS article for adjustment procedures.
(2) With jumper wire installed between terminals "D" and "E" of test connector located in relay box.
