DTC P0463 - Fuel Level Sensor (Gauge) Circuit High Input

  1. Observe fuel gauge. Ensure gauge reads greater than empty. Add fuel if necessary. Go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and PCM connector "C", terminal No. 10 (Pink/Blue wire). If reading is 7 volts or greater, go to next step. If reading is not as specified, check for an intermittent problem. See TESTS W/O CODES article.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect fuel level sensor harness connector located under right rear door opening trim. Using an ohmmeter, check for specified resistance between ground and Pink/Blue wire of connector (fuel level sensor side). Refer to the FUEL LEVEL SENSOR RESISTANCE  table. If resistance is as specified, check for an open in Pink/Blue wire between connector and PCM, or an open in Black wire between connector and ground. Repair as necessary. If resistance is not as specified, go to next step.
    FUEL LEVEL SENSOR RESISTANCE

    Fuel Level Approximate Ohms
    Empty 120
    Half 32.5
    Full 10 Or Less
  4. Check for an open in Pink/Blue wire or Black wire between connector and fuel level sensor. Repair as necessary. If wires are okay, replace fuel level sensor. Retest system.
