Disassembly & Reassembly

  1. Remove fuel injector from throttle body. See procedures under INJECTOR (SOHC) . Remove Throttle Position (TP) sensor. Remove attaching screws, and separate upper and lower bodies. See Fig 1.
    NOTE: DO NOT  soak injector, air valve or any electrical device in any type of solvent or cleaner. DO NOT  put drills or wires into passages.
  2. Clean upper and lower passages with compressed air only. Reassemble components with NEW gaskets and "O" rings.
  3. Install injector sub-wire to throttle body using a NEW "O" ring. Assemble upper and lower bodies with NEW gasket. Install and tighten upper-to-lower body attaching screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Ensure injector sub-wire is routed in throttle body groove and install sub-wire cover. Install fuel injector and TP sensor.
  4. Install TP sensor so adjusting holes slightly away from TP sensor mounting bolt holes. See Fig 2. Turn TP sensor clockwise so mounting holes align. Install sensor mounting bolts (finger tight) until TP sensor is adjusted.
