Throttle Position Sensor (TPS): Installation

  1. If wiring harness was removed from connector, insert wires into connector.
  2. Install TPS so its adjusting holes slightly cover mounting bolt holes. See Figure . Turn TPS so mounting holes align. Install TPS mounting bolts and finger tighten only.
  3. Clamp wiring harness securely to side of throttle body. Connect negative battery cable. Adjust TPS. See ADJUSTMENTS - 1.6L TBI article in thissection. Tighten TPS mounting bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table.
