Throttle Body: Overhaul

  1. Remove fuel injector from throttle body. See INJECTOR  under FUEL SYSTEM.
  2. Remove throttle position sensor and fuel pressure regulator. See Fig 1 . Remove attaching screws and separate upper and lower bodies.
  3. DO NOT  soak any electrical device or air valve in solvent or other cleaner. DO NOT  put drills or wires into passages. Clean upper and lower passages with compressed air only. Reassemble components with NEW gaskets and "O" rings.
  4. Assemble upper and lower bodies with NEW gasket. Install and tighten upper-to-lower body attaching screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table.
  5. Install fuel pressure regulator with NEW "O" ring. Tighten fuel pressure regulator mounting screws to specification.
  6. Install fuel injector. See INJECTOR  . Apply thread locking compound to injector cover mounting screws and install cover. Tighten injector cover screws to specification.
  7. Install TPS so adjusting holes slightly cover mounting bolt holes. See Fig 2 . Turn sensor so mounting holes align. Install sensor mounting bolts (finger tight). Clamp wiring harness securely to side of throttle body.
