Throttle Body (TBI): Installation

  1. Install new throttle body base gasket on intake manifold. Install throttle body. Tighten throttle body mounting bolts to 13-20 ft. lbs. (18-27 N.m).
  2. Connect fuel feed pipe with new "O" ring. Tighten fuel feed pipe bolts to 72-102 INCH lbs. (8.0-11.9 N.m). Connect fuel return line to fuel pressure regulator.
  3. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Refill cooling system. Connect negative battery cable.
  4. On all models, turn ignition on, engine off. This will activate fuel pump. Check for fuel leaks. Adjust accelerator cable, A/T kickdown cable (if equipped), throttle position sensor (TBI) and throttle switch. See ADJUSTMENTS article in this section.
