Injector (TBI): Removal

  1. Relieve fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE  under FUEL SYSTEM. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  2. Remove air intake from top of throttle body. Remove fuel feed pipe clamp from intake manifold. Disconnect fuel feed pipe from throttle body. Remove injector cover.
    WARNING: To prevent personal injury and damage to injector, DO NOT  use more than 70 psi (4.9 kg/cm2 ) of air pressure to remove injector.
  3. Unplug injector harness connector. See Fig 1 . Slide injector grommet from throttle body. Place shop towel over injector. To remove injector, apply less than 70 psi (4.9 kg/cm2 ) compressed air into fuel inlet port of throttle body.
