Throttle Body (TBI): Installation

  1. Install new throttle body base gasket on intake manifold. Install throttle body. Torque throttle body mounting bolts to 13-20 ft. lbs. (18-27 N.m).
  2. Connect fuel feed pipe with new "O" ring. Torque fuel feed pipe bolts to 71-106 INCH lbs. (8.0-11.9 N.m). Connect fuel return line to fuel pressure regulator.
  3. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Refill cooling system. Connect negative battery cable. Check for fuel leaks. With fuel pump relay connected, install a jumper wire between fuel pump relay Pink/Black and Black/White wires. Fuel pump relay is located on right kick panel, above ECM. See Figure.
  4. Turn ignition on, engine off. This will activate fuel pump. Adjust accelerator cable, A/T kickdown cable (if equipped) and throttle position sensor. See ADJUSTMENTS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
