Throttle Opener Solenoid

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect vacuum hoses and electrical connector from solenoid. Turn ignition on. Check for battery voltage on Light Green/Red wire of solenoid harness. Power for solenoid comes from terminal "E" of control relay. Turn ignition off. Using ohmmeter, check solenoid resistance. Continuity should exist; however, zero ohms of resistance is an indication of a shorted solenoid.
  2. Connect a short section of hose to one fitting of solenoid. Blow through hose. Air should exit through lower fitting. Energize solenoid by applying battery voltage to Light Green/Red wire solenoid terminal. Apply ground to Light Green/White wire terminal of solenoid. Blow through hose. Air should exit through capped filter. Replace solenoid if solenoid does not respond as described.
