Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, Disconnect the harness connector at the BEC.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the RAP relay supply voltage circuit and ground. Close all vehicle doors.
  3. Observe the test lamp, cycle the ignition key to the RUN position and back to the OFF position, wait 10 seconds, open the driver door. The test lamp should turn ON when key is in RUN, and remain on until the driver door is opened.
    • If the test lamp is always OFF, test the relay coil control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
    • If the test lamp is always ON, refer to RETAINED ACCESSORY POWER (RAP) MALFUNCTION .
  4. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the BEC.
