When Only The Power Steering Control Module Stores The Current Code DTC U1584

1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
2. After 10 minutes have elapsed, turn the ignition switch to ON.
3. Read the DTC of [Power Steering] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to POWER STEERING (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

Is DTC U1584 displayed in current code?

Yes:  Check the battery. Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DOTC)>BATTERY>INSPECTION . Go to  2.

No:  Clear the memory to finish the diagnosis. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>CLEAR MEMORY .

3. Read the DTC of [Power Steering] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to POWER STEERING (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

Is DTC U1584 displayed in current code?

Yes:  Replace the steering gearbox. Ref. to POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM (POWER STEERING)>ELECTRIC POWER STEERING GEARBOX .

No:  It results from a temporary noise interference. Clear the memory to finish the diagnosis. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>CLEAR MEMORY .
