DTC B140A: Immobilizer Sub Control Module Non-Volatile Memory
Diagnosis start condition:
- Battery voltage is 10 V or more.
- The remote engine starter was not used to start the engine.
DTC detecting condition:
Defective central gateway Control Module
Trouble symptom:
- Engine will not start.
- The security indicator illuminates.
CAUTION:
When the central gateway Control Module is replaced, registration of the immobilizer system is required. For details, refer to the "REGISTRATION MANUAL FOR IMMOBILIZER" provided as a separate volume.
- REGISTRATION OF CENTRAL Gateway Control Module

- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the clear memory of [Body Control] and [Central Gateway]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>CLEAR MEMORY

- Body Control
- Central Gateway
- Perform the central gateway Control Module registration. Refer to the "REGISTRATION MANUAL FOR IMMOBILIZER" provided as a separate volume.
- Read the DTC of [Body Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
Is DTC B140A displayed? (Current code)
Yes: Replace the central gateway Control Module. Ref. to BODY CONTROL/COMMUNICATION SYSTEM>CENTRAL GATEWAY CONTROL MODULE .
No: Even if DTC is displayed, the circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.
NOTE: In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, temporary open or short circuit of harness may be the cause.
