Engine Starting System & Charging System: Starter: Removal

CAUTION:

When replacing the starter, be sure to perform [Start count clearing] after the service. Ref. to AUTO START STOP (DIAGNOSTICS)>WORK SUPPORT .
When replacing the starter, be sure to replace the fuel pump relay at the same time. Ref. to WIRING SYSTEM>FUSE AND RELAY>LOCATION .

NOTE: Components: Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DO)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>COMPONENT>STARTER .

Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .

Remove the air intake boot.

Remove the clip.

Loosen the clamp.

Remove the air intake boot, and place it aside so that it does not interfere with the work.

CAUTION: Be careful not to pull out the PCV hose.

Remove the front wheel LH. Ref. to WHEEL AND TIRE SYSTEM>TIRE AND WHEEL>REMOVAL .
NOTE: If the front exhaust pipe is removed, the work can be performed without removing the front wheel LH.

Remove the starter.

Disconnect the connector (A).
Disconnect the terminal B (B).

Disconnect the ground terminal (C).

CAUTION: In order to prevent damaging the ground terminal, fix the ground terminal when loosing the bolt, and avoid the part from rotating together while loosening the bolt.

Remove the cable stay and starter.

NOTE: Remove from the upper side of the vehicle.
