Check With SUBARU Select Monitor

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
2. Read DTCs of the following items using the Subaru Select Monitor.
   • [Body Control] Ref. to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
   • [Front Relay Control Module] Ref. to FRONT RELAY CONTROL MODULE (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
   • [Cockpit Control] Ref. to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
   • [Air Conditioner] Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

Is DTC displayed?

Yes  : Perform the diagnosis for the displayed DTCs.

No  : GO TO  2.

Operate the rear defogger switch on the center information display.

Does the rear defogger switch light illuminate or go off corresponding to the switch operation?

Yes  : GO TO  3.

No  : GO TO  7.

Display data of the following items using Subaru Select Monitor.

• [Body Control] Ref. to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .
  • [BATT voltage (control)]
  • [BATT voltage (BACKUP)]
  • [IGN voltage]
• [Front Relay Control Module] Ref. to FRONT RELAY CONTROL MODULE (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .
  • [BATT Voltage (Control)]
  • [BATT Voltage (BACKUP)]
  • [IGN Voltage]

Is the voltage 9 - 16 V?

Yes  : GO TO  4.

No  : Check the harnesses of the battery, fuse, connector and power supply circuit.

Using Subaru Select Monitor, perform [R Defogger Output] in the [Active Test] of [Front Relay Control Module]. Ref. to FRONT RELAY CONTROL MODULE (DIAGNOSTICS)>ACTIVE TEST .

Does the rear defogger system operate normally?

Yes  : GO TO  5.

No  : Check the harnesses of the heat wire, relay and output circuit.

Using Subaru Select Monitor, display [R Defogger Request] in [Data monitor] of [Front Relay Control Module]. Ref. to FRONT RELAY CONTROL MODULE (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .

Does the display change between [OFF] ←→ [ON], when the rear defogger switch is operated?

Yes  : Replace the front relay control module. Ref. to BODY CONTROL/COMMUNICATION SYSTEM>FRONT RELAY CONTROL MODULE .

No  : GO TO  6.

Using Subaru Select Monitor, display [Rr Defogger output] in [Data monitor] of [Body Control]. Ref. to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .

Does the display change between [OFF] ←→ [ON], when the rear defogger switch is operated?

Yes  : Replace the front relay control module. Ref. to BODY CONTROL/COMMUNICATION SYSTEM>FRONT RELAY CONTROL MODULE .

No  : Replace the body integrated unit. Ref. to BODY CONTROL/COMMUNICATION SYSTEM>BODY INTEGRATED UNIT .

1. Switch to dealership mode. Ref. to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DEALERSHIP MODE>OPERATION .
2. Select [Function Check]. Ref. to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DEALERSHIP MODE>OPERATION>DEALERSHIP MODE .
3. Check [Rr DEF] and [Push] are displayed when the rear defogger switch is pressed.
4. Check [Push] is switched to [Release] when the rear defogger switch is released.

Does it operate normally?

Yes  : It is considered that trouble symptom was improved. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the inspection again.

No  : Replace the center information display. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>COCKPIT DISPLAY .
