Engine Starting System & Charging System: Generator: Installation

  1. Install the generator.
    1. Set the generator, and tighten the bolts in numerical order as shown in the figure.

      Tightening torque: 

      25 N.m (2.5 kgf-m, 18.4 ft-lb)

    2. Connect the terminal B (A).
      CAUTION: Clean and degrease the bolt threads, terminals and seating surfaces.

      Residual anti-rust grease or dirt may cause overtorque.

      Tightening torque: 

      15.5 N.m (1.6 kgf-m, 11.4 ft-lb)

    3. Connect the connector (B).

    4. After connecting the terminal B, apply a thin coat of anti-rust grease to the terminal section.
      CAUTION: This procedure is required to prevent rust and suppress sulfation.

      Preparation items  :

      Grease: Viscotech R174 or equivalent Ref. to RECOMMENDED MATERIALS>GREASE>STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEM .

  2. Install the V-belts. Ref. to MECHANICAL (H4DO)>V-BELT>INSTALLATION .
  3. Install the air intake duct. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DO)>AIR INTAKE DUCT>INSTALLATION .
  4. Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
