Battery Cable Assembly: Installation

  1. Install the terminal base.
    CAUTION: Clean and degrease the bolt threads, terminals and seating surfaces.

    Residual anti-rust grease or dirt may cause overtorque.

    Tightening torque: 

    6 N.m (0.6 kgf-m, 4.4 ft-lb)

  2. Install the slow blow fuse.
    1. Connect the terminal (B) and the terminal (A) to the slow blow fuse (C).

      Tightening torque: 

      5.5 N.m (0.6 kgf-m, 4.1 ft-lb)

  3. Install the battery cable assembly.
    1. Set the battery cable assembly, and secure the battery cable assembly to the bracket with claw.

    2. Secure the battery cable assembly to the intake manifold assembly with the claw (D).
    3. Secure the battery cable assembly to the intake manifold assembly with the clip (C).
    4. Secure the engine wiring harness with the clip (B).
    5. Connect the connector (A).

    6. Secure the battery cable assembly with the clip (E) and clip (D).
    7. Connect the connector (C) and connector (B).
    8. Connect the terminal B (A).
      CAUTION: Clean and degrease the bolt threads, terminals and seating surfaces.

      Residual anti-rust grease or dirt may cause overtorque.

      Tightening torque: 

      15.5 N.m (1.6 kgf-m, 11.4 ft-lb)

    9. After connecting the terminal B, apply a thin coat of anti-rust grease to the terminal section.
      CAUTION: This procedure is required to prevent rust and suppress sulfation.

      Preparation items  :

      Grease: Viscotech R174 or equivalent Ref. to RECOMMENDED MATERIALS>GREASE>STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEM .

    10. Install the V-belt cover.
      NOTE:
      • Check the grommet for peel-off or disengagement.
      • Be careful not to deform the bracket during installation.

      Tightening torque: 

      7 N.m (0.7 kgf-m, 5.2 ft-lb)

    11. Connect the terminal B.
      CAUTION: Clean and degrease the bolt threads, terminals and seating surfaces.

      Residual anti-rust grease or dirt may cause overtorque.

      Tightening torque: 

      T1: 11 N.m (1.1 kgf-m, 8.1 ft-lb)

    12. Connect the ground terminal.
      CAUTION: Clean and degrease the bolt threads, terminals and seating surfaces.

      Residual anti-rust grease or dirt may cause overtorque.

      Tightening torque: 

      T2: 14 N.m (1.4 kgf-m, 10.3 ft-lb)

    13. Connect the connector.

    14. After connecting the terminal B, apply a thin coat of anti-rust grease to the terminal section.
      CAUTION: This procedure is required to prevent rust and suppress sulfation.

      Preparation items  :

      Grease: Viscotech R174 or equivalent Ref. to RECOMMENDED MATERIALS>GREASE>STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEM .

    15. After connecting the ground terminal, apply a thin coat of anti-rust grease to the terminal section.
      CAUTION: This procedure is required to prevent rust and suppress sulfation.

      Preparation items  :

      Grease: Viscotech R174 or equivalent Ref. to RECOMMENDED MATERIALS>GREASE>STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEM .

    16. Install the air intake boot. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DO)>AIR INTAKE BOOT>INSTALLATION .
    17. Set the terminal of battery cable assembly.

    18. Connect the slow blow fuse.
      CAUTION: Clean and degrease the bolt threads, terminals and seating surfaces.

      Residual anti-rust grease or dirt may cause overtorque.

      Tightening torque: 

      7.5 N.m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)

    19. Connect the terminal (A) and the terminal (B).
      CAUTION: Clean and degrease the bolt threads, terminals and seating surfaces.

      Residual anti-rust grease or dirt may cause overtorque.

      Tightening torque: 

      T1: 7.5 N.m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)

    20. Connect the terminal (C).
      CAUTION: Clean and degrease the bolt threads, terminals and seating surfaces.

      Residual anti-rust grease or dirt may cause overtorque.

      Tightening torque: 

      T2: 14 N.m (1.4 kgf-m, 10.3 ft-lb)

    21. After connecting each terminal, apply a thin coat of anti-rust grease to the terminal section.
      CAUTION: This procedure is required to prevent rust and suppress sulfation.

      Preparation items  :

      Grease: Viscotech R174 or equivalent Ref. to RECOMMENDED MATERIALS>GREASE>STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEM .

    22. Install the battery sensor harness to the clip (E).
    23. Install the battery cable holder (D).
    24. Connect the ground terminal (C).
      CAUTION:
      • Install the battery sensor and battery cable assembly without applying an excessive force.
      • Clean and degrease the bolt threads, terminals and seating surfaces.

        Residual anti-rust grease or dirt may cause overtorque.

      • Do not apply anti-rust grease to the battery sensor and the ground terminal.

      Tightening torque: 

      T1: 7.5 N.m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)

    25. Secure the ground cable with the clip (B).
    26. Connect the ground terminal (A).
      CAUTION: Clean and degrease the bolt threads, terminals and seating surfaces.

      Residual anti-rust grease or dirt may cause overtorque.

      Tightening torque: 

      T2: 13 N.m (1.3 kgf-m, 9.6 ft-lb)

    27. After connecting the ground terminal, apply a thin coat of anti-rust grease to the terminal section.
      CAUTION: This procedure is required to prevent rust and suppress sulfation.

      Preparation items  :

      Grease: Viscotech R174 or equivalent Ref. to RECOMMENDED MATERIALS>GREASE>STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEM .

  4. Install the fuse box cover (A) and terminal boot (B).

  5. Install the cover fender UPR LH.
