Daytime Running Light Module Check

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
2. Turn the lighting switch to the switch 2 (HEAD) position.

Does the headlight (low beam) illuminate?

Yes:  Go to  2.

No:  Check the combination switch (light) and headlight.

Read the DTC of [Body Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

Is DTC displayed?

Yes:  Perform the diagnosis for the displayed DTCs. Ref. to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>LIST .

No:  Go to  3.

Using the Subaru Select Monitor, display the following items in the [Data monitor] of [Body Control]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .

• [EPB operating status]
• [Shift Position]
• [Lighting II Switch Input]

Is the input signal normal?

Yes:  Go to  4.

No:  Check the defective part.

1. Start the engine.
2. Release the parking brake and place the shift position to other than "P" range.
3. Using Subaru Select Monitor, display data of [Daytime Running Light (Alternate System) Output] in [Data monitor] of [Body Control]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .

Does the display of [Daytime Running Light (Alternate System) Output] switch between [OFF] ← → [ON] when the lighting switch is switched from the switch 1 (TAIL) position to the switch 2 (HEAD) position?

Yes:  Go to  5.

No:  Replace the body integrated unit. Ref. to SECURITY AND LOCKS>BODY INTEGRATED UNIT .

1. Disconnect the headlight connector.
2. Apply battery voltage to the headlight low beam terminal input of the headlight unit.

   Terminals 

   NO. 1 (+) - NO. 3 (-):

3. Connect the DRL input terminal of the headlight unit to the GND terminal.

   Terminals 

   NO. 4 - NO. 3:

Does the daytime running light illuminate?

Yes:  Go to  6.

No:  Replace the headlight. Ref. to LIGHTING SYSTEM>HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY .

1. Disconnect the body integrated unit connector and the headlight connector.
2. Check each harness.

   Connector & terminal 

   (B287) No. 5 - (B487) No. 4:

   (B287) No. 5 - (B447) No. 4:

Is harness normal?

Yes:  Replace the body integrated unit. Ref. to SECURITY AND LOCKS>BODY INTEGRATED UNIT .

No:  Repair or replace the harness.
