Transmission Control Module (TCM): Installation

CAUTION:

When replacing the TCM, be sure to perform [Start count reading ECU to SSM] before operation and perform [Start count writing SSM to ECU] after operation. Ref. to AUTO START STOP (DIAGNOSTICS)>WORK SUPPORT .
When [Start count reading ECU to SSM] cannot be performed due to TCM malfunction, be sure to replace the starter and fuel pump relay at the same time.
Starter:

Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DO)>STARTER .

Fuel pump relay:

Ref. to WIRING SYSTEM>FUSE AND RELAY>LOCATION .
When the TCM has been replaced, be sure to perform the module registration.

NOTE: When replacing the TCM, be sure to perform [Save settings] for the customizing information before operation and perform [Read settings] after operation .
Each item can be selected from [Transmission] .
List:
Ref. to AUTO START STOP (DIAGNOSTICS)>CUSTOMIZE>LIST .
Operation:
Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>CUSTOMIZE>OPERATION .

Install the TCM.
Tightening torque:

7 N.m (0.7 kgf-m, 5.2 ft-lb)
Connect the connector to TCM.
NOTE: Move the lock lever and confirm that a locking sound is heard.
Install the transmission case cover (front).
NOTE:
- Insert the transmission case cover (front) between transmission case cover (rear) and transmission body.
- When inserting, be careful that the insulator inside transmission case cover is not turned over.

Tightening torque:

7 N.m (0.7 kgf-m, 5.2 ft-lb)

Install the pitching stopper. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR580)>TRANSMISSION MOUNTING SYSTEM>INSTALLATION>PITCHING STOPPER .
Connect the ground cord.
CAUTION: As residual anti-rust grease and dirt on the bolt threads, terminals and seating surfaces may cause overtorque, clean and degrease them.

Tightening torque:

32.3 N.m (3.3 kgf-m, 23.8 ft-lb)

Apply a thin coat of grease over the ground terminal.
NOTE: This procedure is required to prevent rust and suppress sulfation.

Preparation items:

Grease: NIPPECO LT-1N or equivalent Ref. to RECOMMENDED MATERIALS>GREASE>CVT .

(A) Grease application area
Install the air intake boot. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DO)>AIR INTAKE BOOT>INSTALLATION .
Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
When the TCM has been replaced, perform the module registration. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>UNIT REGISTRATION>OPERATION .
Perform the [Clear AT learning value] and [AT learning mode] using Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR580)>AT LEARNING .
