Front Exhaust Pipe: Installation

  1. Install the turbocharger stay.

    Tightening torque: 

    19 N.m (1.9 kgf-m, 14.0 ft-lb)

  2. Using a new gasket, temporarily install the front exhaust pipe, center exhaust pipe (front) and turbo charger as a unit.
    CAUTION: Be sure to install the front exhaust pipe to the cylinder head.
    NOTE: Support the front exhaust pipe with the transmission jack.

  3. Temporarily install the turbocharger stay.

  4. Tighten the nuts which hold the front exhaust pipe in the numerical sequence as shown in the figure.

    Tightening torque: 

    65 N.m (6.6 kgf-m, 47.9 ft-lb)

  5. Install the bolts securing the exhaust stay.

    Tightening torque: 

    33 N.m (3.4 kgf-m, 24.3 ft-lb)

  6. Install the oil catch tank. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DOTC)>OIL CATCH TANK>INSTALLATION .
  7. Connect the electronic wastegate valve connector (A) and the electronic air by-pass valve connector (B).

  8. Connect the rear oxygen sensor connector and ground cord.

    Tightening torque: 

    7.5 N.m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)

  9. Connect the front oxygen (A/F) sensor connector, and install the clip.

  10. Install the intake duct No. 1. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DOTC)>INTAKE DUCT>INSTALLATION>INTAKE DUCT NO. 1 .
  11. Install the center exhaust pipe (rear). Ref. to EXHAUST (H4DOTC)>CENTER EXHAUST PIPE>INSTALLATION>CENTER EXHAUST PIPE (REAR) .
  12. Install the intake duct No. 2. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DOTC)>INTAKE DUCT>INSTALLATION>INTAKE DUCT NO. 2 .
  13. Tighten the bolts which hold the turbocharger stay in the numerical order shown in the figure.

    Tightening torque: 

    33 N.m (3.4 kgf-m, 24.3 ft-lb)

  14. Install the under cover front. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>FRONT UNDER COVER>INSTALLATION .
  15. Use a new gasket to connect the oil pipe to the chain cover.

    Tightening torque: 

    24 N.m (2.4 kgf-m, 17.7 ft-lb)

  16. Connect the water hose to the water tank pipe assembly.

  17. Install the air intake duct. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DOTC)>AIR INTAKE DUCT>INSTALLATION .
  18. Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  19. Fill engine coolant. Ref. to COOLING (H4DOTC)>ENGINE COOLANT>REPLACEMENT>FILLING OF ENGINE COOLANT .
  20. Check the engine oil level and replenish the engine oil if necessary. Ref. to LUBRICATION (H4DOTC)>ENGINE OIL>INSPECTION .
