Driver's Airbag Module: Removal

CAUTION: Refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" before handling the airbag system components. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
  1. Set the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  3. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  4. Remove the driver's airbag module.
    1. Using a hexagon wrench etc. wrapped by protective tape, insert the snap pins and release the locks (three locations).

    2. Disconnect the horn harness and airbag connector, and remove the driver's airbag module. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>AIRBAG CONNECTOR>PROCEDURE>DRIVER'S AIRBAG MODULE, FRONT SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER AND CURTAIN AIRBAG MODULE .

  Meaning of pictograms indicated on the label
(a) Flammable explosive substance encapsulated parts; be careful of handling.
(b) Indicates that this part is an airbag module.
(c) Before handling, always refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM" in the service information.
For the disposal procedures of the airbag modules, refer to "Airbag Module Disposal".
(d) Do not disassemble the airbag module.
