Rear Planetary Gear: Removal
- Remove the intermediate shaft. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>INTERMEDIATE SHAFT>REMOVAL .
- Remove the brake plate stopper spring.
- Remove the No. 4 front brake flange, No. 4 brake discs, No. 4 brake plates, and No. 4 rear brake flange.
(A) No. 4 front brake flange (B) No. 4 brake disc (C) No. 4 brake plate (D) No. 4 rear brake flange (E) Transmission case - Check the No. 4 front brake flange, No. 4 brake discs, No. 4 brake plates, and No. 4 rear brake flange.
- Check for wear, damage, deformation, discoloration and seizure.
- Replace with a new part if defective.
- Place the surface plate on a weight scale, and stack the No. 4 front brake flange, No. 4 brake discs, No. 4 brake plates, and No. 4 rear brake flange.
- Adjust the reading of the weight scale to the zero point.
- Place a weight so that the reading value of the weight scale becomes 0.5 kg (1.10 lb) or less, and then measure and record the thickness "T1".NOTE:
- Prepare a weight with the length of one side equal to or longer than the No. 4 front brake flange outer diameter, and also flat shape that allows load to be applied evenly.
- Measure at four points at 90° intervals and calculate the average.
Service limit:
23.64 mm (0.931 in)
(A) No. 4 front brake flange (B) No. 4 brake disc (C) No. 4 brake plate (D) No. 4 rear brake flange - If the value exceeds the service limit, measure the No. 4 front brake flange.
- If the thickness of the No. 4 front brake flange is 1.929 mm (0.0759 in), replace with new No. 4 brake discs and new No. 4 brake plates, and perform measurement in step 3 again.
- If the thickness of the No. 4 front brake flange is other than 1.929 mm (0.0759 in), record it.
Specification:
23.64 - 26.00 mm (0.931 - 1.024 in)
- Remove the rear planetary gear.
(A) Rear planetary gear (B) Transmission case - Remove the thrust needle roller bearing.
