Diagnostic Procedure with Cancel Code: 14

Detected when the select lever is shifted to the neutral position, or when an error related to the neutral position switch occurs.

Trouble symptom: 

Cruise control cannot be set.

Wiring diagram:

1. CHECK NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH CIRCUIT  .
   1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
   2. Disconnect the neutral position switch connector. Ref. to MANUAL TRANSMISSION>SWITCHES AND HARNESS>REMOVAL .
   3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
   4. Measure the voltage between neutral position switch connector and chassis ground.

      Connector & terminal 

      (B117) No. 2 (+) - Chassis ground (-):

   Is the voltage 10 V or more?

   Yes:  Go to  2.

   No:  Check for open or short in the harness between neutral position switch and ECM.

2. CHECK NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH CIRCUIT  .
   1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
   2. Disconnect the ECM connector. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM)>REMOVAL .
   3. Measure the resistance between neutral position switch connector and ECM.

      Connector & terminal 

      (B117) No. 1 - (B62) No. 50:

   Is the resistance less than 10 Ω?

   Yes:  Go to  3.

   No:  Repair the harness.

3. PERFORM UNIT INSPECTION OF NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH  .

   Check the neutral position switch. Ref. to MANUAL TRANSMISSION>SWITCHES AND HARNESS>INSPECTION .

   Is the check result OK?

   Yes:  Replace the ECM.

   Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) .

   No:  Replace the neutral position switch. Ref. to MANUAL TRANSMISSION>SWITCHES AND HARNESS>INSTALLATION .
