DTC P0506: Idle Control System Rpm - Lower Than Expected: Notes

DTC detecting condition:
Detected when two consecutive driving cycles with fault occur.
Trouble symptom:
- Hard to start the engine.
- Engine does not start.
- Improper idling
- Engine stall
NOTE: After the faulty parts are repaired or replaced, perform the final check in Basic Diagnostic Procedure. Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE>PROCEDURE .- CHECK DTC

- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Using the Subaru Select Monitor or a general scan tool, read the DTC of [Engine]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
Is DTC other than P0506 displayed? (Current code)
Yes : Check the appropriate DTC using the "Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
No : Go to 2.
- CHECK AIR CLEANER ELEMENT
.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Check the air cleaner element.
Is there excessive clogging on air cleaner element?
Yes : Replace the air cleaner element. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DO)>AIR CLEANER ELEMENT .
No : Go to 3.
- CHECK ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL
.
- Remove the electronic throttle control. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO)>THROTTLE BODY>REMOVAL .
- Check the electronic throttle control.
Are foreign matter found inside electronic throttle control?
Yes : Remove foreign matter from electronic throttle control.
No : Perform the diagnosis for DTC P2101. Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO)>DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE WITH DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>DTC P2101 THROTTLE ACTUATOR "A" CONTROL MOTOR CIRCUIT RANGE/PERFORMANCE .
