Rear Planetary Gear: Installation

Install the thrust needle roller bearing.

NOTE: Make sure to install the thrust needle roller bearing in the right direction.

Install the rear planetary gear.

Check the No. 4 brake pack clearance.

Measure height "H" from the brake apply tube (A) upper face to the No. 4 brake flange (B) mounting surface.
NOTE:
- Measure at four points at 90° intervals and calculate the average.
- If the value is outside the specification, check the 1st & reverse brake piston.
Specification:

23.32 - 24.18 mm (0.918 - 0.952 in)

Using the following calculation, calculate pack clearance "C".

Specification:

0.5 - 0.8 mm (0.02 - 0.03 in)

C = H - T1 - 0.18 mm (0.007 in) + T2

T1	Measured values (mm (in)) of the step 3. (4) or 3. (5)
T2	No. 4 front brake flange standard value 1.8 mm (0.07 in)

If the value exceeds the specification, adjust the thickness of the No. 4 front brake flange so that the value is within the initial standard. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>REAR PLANETARY GEAR>REMOVAL .
Specification:

23.64 - 26.00 mm (0.931 - 1.024 in)

Install the No. 4 rear brake flange, No. 4 brake discs, No. 4 brake plates, and No. 4 front brake flange.

NOTE: When replacing with new No. 4 brake discs, soak them in the ATF for 15 minutes.

Install the brake plate stopper spring.
