CAUTION:

Before performing diagnosis, refer to "CAUTION" in "General Description". Ref. to  CRUISE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION

  1. CHECK DATA MONITOR  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, check the following items in the [Data Monitor] of [Engine]. Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DOTC)>DATA MONITOR
      • Main Switch
      • CC Cancel SW
      • SET/COAST Switch
      • RESUME/ACCEL Switch

Does the display change according to the cruise control command switch operation?

Yes  : Even if DTC is displayed, the circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.

    NOTE:

In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, temporary open or short circuit of harness may be the cause.

    No  : Go to  2.

  2. CHECK HARNESS  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector and the steering roll connector (i95).
    3. Using a tester, measure the resistance between the ECM connector and steering roll connector and between the steering roll connector and chassis ground.

      Connector & terminal

      (i95) No. 4 - Chassis ground:

      (i95) No. 11 - (B61) No. 1:

      (i95) No. 12 - (B61) No. 52:

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

    Yes  : Go to  3.

No  : Repair or replace the open circuit in harness between the ECM connector and the steering roll connector, and between the steering roll connector and chassis ground.

  3. CHECK HARNESS  .

Using a tester, measure the resistance between the steering roll connector and chassis ground.

    Connector & terminal

    (i95) No. 11 - Chassis ground:

    (i95) No. 12 - Chassis ground:

Is the resistance 1 MΩ or more?

    Yes  : Go to  4.

No  : Repair or replace the short circuit to ground in harness between the ECM connector and the steering roll connector.

  4. CHECK HARNESS  .

Using a tester, measure the resistance between terminals of steering roll connector.

    Connector & terminal

    (i95) No. 4 - (i95) No. 11:

    (i95) No. 4 - (i95) No. 12:

    (i95) No. 11 - (i95) No. 12:

Is the resistance 1 MΩ or more?

    Yes  : Go to  5.

No  : Repair or replace the short between lines in the harness between the ECM connector and the steering roll connector.

  5. CHECK STEERING ROLL CONNECTOR  .
    1. Remove the driver's airbag module. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>DRIVER'S AIRBAG MODULE>REMOVAL
    2. Using a tester, measure the resistance between terminals of steering roll connector.

      Terminal No. Inspection conditions Standard
      A4 - C12 Always Less than 1 Ω
      A3 - C11 Always Less than 1 Ω
      A9 - C4 Always Less than 1 Ω

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes  : Go to  6.

No  : Replace the steering roll connector. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>ROLL CONNECTOR

  6. CHECK SWITCH  .

Check the cruise control command switch. Ref. to CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM>STEERING SWITCH>INSPECTION

Is the inspection result of cruise control command switch OK?

Yes  : Replace the ECM. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DOTC)>ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM)

No  : Replace the cruise control command switch.
