Stereo Camera: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Subaru WRX. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
  • The stereo camera is a precision equipment. Therefore, when it is removed, installed or temporarily stored, be sure to install the HOOD RH/LH and protect the cooling fan portion. (A new stereo camera is equipped with the HOOD RH/LH as a service part.)
  • When the windshield glass has been replaced, removed or installed, always perform the adjustment and inspection of the stereo camera and the heater heating and cooling fan drive test. Ref. to  EYESIGHT>CAMERA ADJUSTMENT, INSPECTION
  • Do not apply any impact to the stereo camera. Even the slightest shock will deviate the optical axis of the camera, resulting in the loss of normal operation of the camera.
  1. Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY
  2. Remove the light assembly map. Ref. to LIGHTING SYSTEM>SPOT MAP LIGHT>REMOVAL
  3. Remove the cover EyeSight.
    CAUTION:
    • Do not apply any impact to the stereo camera.
    • Be careful when releasing the engagement since it may be tight.
    1. In order to prevent the cover Eyesight from contacting the stereo camera, insert your fingers in the clearance of the cover Eyesight and apply force toward the arrow (a) side while performing step 2.
    2. Push the cover EyeSight toward the arrow (b) side on one side at a time and release the clips and claws, then detach the cover EyeSight.
      CAUTION:

When the cover EyeSight is hot due to the heater's heat, wait for a while before starting the work.

      NOTE:

Try not to peel the polyurethane of the cover EyeSight.

    1. Disconnect the connector.
    2. While pulling the stereo camera rearward, slowly release the engagement of the clip and guide on one side at a time, and remove the stereo camera.
      CAUTION:

When releasing the guide, be careful not to pull only one side excessively. The stereo camera and camera lens portion may contact the adjacent parts.

    3. Install the HOOD RH/LH to the stereo camera.

      Preparation items:

      HOOD RH (part No. 87512VC000)

      HOOD LH (part No. 87512VC010)

      CAUTION:
      • Do not let the HOOD RH/LH touch the lens portion of the stereo camera. Even the slightest contact will deviate the optical axis of the stereo camera, resulting in the loss of normal operation of the camera.
      • Place the cooling fan portion facing upward.
      • Cover the cooling fan portion with dust-free paper and the like to protect from dirt and dust.
      • When placing down the stereo camera, do so on a cushioning material (a) such as sheets to prevent any impact from being applied to the camera portion.
