DTC P100A: AVCS System Stuck: Notes

DTC detecting condition: 

Trouble symptom: 

CAUTION: After servicing or replacing faulty parts, check performance of the basic diagnostic procedure. Refer PROCEDURE
  1. CHECK DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Read the engine DTC using the Subaru Select Monitor or general scan tool. Refer to OPERATION .

      Is DTC P000A, P000B, P000C, P000D, P0011, P0014, P0021 or P0024 displayed? (Current malfunction)

      Yes  Check the appropriate DTC using the "List of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". Refer to LIST .

      No  Go to  2

  2. CHECK DTC 
    1. Start the engine and fully warm up until the engine coolant temperature reaches 80°C (176°F) or more.
    2. Perform drive cycle T. Refer to DRIVE CYCLE T .
      WARNING: When performing the drive cycle on the public road, be very careful of the traffic condition and the safe driving must be the high priority.
    3. Read the engine DTC using the Subaru Select Monitor or general scan tool. Refer to OPERATION .
    4. Is DTC P100A displayed? (Current malfunction)

      Yes  Go to  4.

      No  Go to  3

  3. CHECK DTC 

    Read the engine DTC using the Subaru Select Monitor or general scan tool. Refer to OPERATION .

    Is DTC P000A, P000B, P000C, P000D, P0011, P0014, P0021 or P0024 displayed? (Current malfunction)

    Yes  Check the appropriate DTC using the "List of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". Refer to LIST .

    No  End.

  4. CHECK CURRENT DATA 
    1. Perform drive cycle T. Refer to DRIVE CYCLE T .
      WARNING: When performing the drive cycle on the public road, be very careful of the traffic condition and the safe driving must be the high priority.
    2. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, read the following values.
      • Intake side RH: «VVT Advance Target Angle Amount R», «VVT Adv. Ang. Amount R»
      • Intake side LH: «VVT Advance Target Angle Amount L», «VVT Adv. Ang. Amount L»
      • Exhaust side RH: «Ex VVT Retard Target Angle R», «Exh. VVT Retard Ang. R»
      • Exhaust side LH: «Ex VVT Retard Target Angle L», «Exh. VVT Retard Ang. L»
      NOTE:
      • For detailed operation procedures, refer to "Read Current Data For Engine". Refer to OPERATION .
      • The data during driving can be stored using Subaru Select Monitor data save function. The stored data can be confirmed during driving.

      Compare the values of VVT Advance Target Amount (Ex VVT Retard Target Angle) and VVT Adv. Ang. Amount (Exh. VVT Retard Ang.). Is there any bank that continues to have a difference of 10 degrees or more for 3 seconds or more?

      Yes  Perform the diagnosis of banks that are not synchronizing.

      No  Go to  5.

  5. CHECK CURRENT DATA 

    Read the data that was saved in step 4.

    • Intake side RH: «VVT Advance Target Angle Amount R», «VVT Adv. Ang. Amount R»
    • Intake side LH: «VVT Advance Target Angle Amount L», «VVT Adv. Ang. Amount L»
    • Exhaust side RH: «Ex VVT Retard Target Angle R», «Exh. VVT Retard Ang. R»
    • Exhaust side LH: «Ex VVT Retard Target Angle L», «Exh. VVT Retard Ang. L»
    NOTE: For detailed operation procedures, refer to "Read Current Data For Engine". Refer to OPERATION .

    Is there any bank whose value of VVT Adv. Ang. Amount (Exh. VVT Retard Ang.) against VVT Advance Target Amount (Ex VVT Retard Target Angle) has changed by 10 degrees or more?

    Yes  Perform Perform the diagnosis of the banks that have changed.

    No  End.
