Seat Cushion Airbag Module: Installation

CAUTION:
  • Refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" before handling the airbag system components. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
  • Do not allow harness and connectors to interfere or get tangled up with other parts.
  1. Before installation, inspect the following items and replace any faulty part with a new one.
    • Airbag module is cracked or deformed.
    • Seat frame assembly cushion is cracked or deformed.
    • Harness and/or connector is cracked, deformed or open.
    • Harness wire is exposed.
    • Installation of seat cushion airbag module is difficult due to the condition of the seat frame assembly cushion.
  2. Install the seat cushion airbag module.
    NOTE:
    • Be careful not to turn over the end of airbag module during operation.
    • Be sure to insert the connector in until it is locked.
    • Press in the connector securely. Then pull it gently to make sure that it is locked.

    Tightening torque: 

    6 N.m (0.6 kgf-m, 4.4 ft-lb)

  3. Assemble the front seat. Ref. to SEATS>FRONT SEAT>ASSEMBLY .
    CAUTION:
    • After assembling the seat cushion, make sure that the two-dimensional codes (two positions) attached on the seat cushion airbag module can be seen. If it is not assembled correctly, the seat cushion airbag may not operate properly.

    • After assembling the seat, operate the reclining and sliding mechanisms back and forth to check that the airbag harness is not caught.
  4. Install the front seat assembly to the body. Ref. to SEATS>FRONT SEAT>INSTALLATION .
  5. Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>SAFETY .
  6. Perform [Rezeroing] for the occupant detection system. Ref. to AIRBAG (DIAGNOSTICS)>REZERO .
