Section 6 (Exhaust System (2.4L)): Muffler: Removal

CAUTION: Vehicle components are extremely hot immediately after driving. Be wary of receiving burns from heated parts.
  1. Disconnect the rear exhaust pipe and muffler.
    CAUTION: Be careful not to let the muffler contact the rear bumper.

  2. Apply a coat of spray type lubricant to the mating area of cushion rubber, and remove the muffler.

  3. Remove the rear exhaust cover.
    NOTE: Perform this procedure only when required.
