Rear Seat: Disassembly

  1. Prior to starting work, check the following precautions. Ref. to SEATS>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
  2. Remove the rear seat. Ref. to SEATS>REAR SEAT>REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the armrest assembly. (RH side)
    1. Remove the cover armrest.
    2. Remove the screws, and remove the armrest assembly.

      NOTE: The armrests assembly cannot be detached unless the cut out of backrest assembly RH and armrest side pin positions are aligned.

  4. Remove the belt guide. (OUTBACK model RH side)
    1. Remove the cover.
    2. Remove the screws to remove the belt guide.

  5. Turn over the cover backrest rear seat.
    1. Detach the plastic fastener at the bottom of backrest assembly and the fastener, and turn over the cover backrest rear seat.

    2. Remove the cover tether by inserting your hand from the inside of back board and pad.

      (OUTBACK model)

      CAUTION: Pay attention to the burrs on the panel edge.
      NOTE: While pulling up the pad and cover, remove the cover tether.

    3. Release the clips, and detach the cover assembly lock.

    4. Remove the clips from the cover backrest rear seat.

  6. Remove the bushing headrest and the bushing lock assembly.
    NOTE: Catch the tip of headrest bushing with pliers and push it from inside seat to outside to remove it.

  7. For the backrest LH, remove the hog ring, wire clamp and J-fastener.

  8. Remove the frame assembly rear backrest.
  9. Remove the hinge bushing.
    NOTE: For model with armrest, remove the armrest bushing also.
  10. Remove the lock assembly and lock assembly button.
    CAUTION: Pay attention to the burrs on the panel edge.
    1. Remove the bolts and link to the lock assembly button, and remove the lock assembly.

    2. Remove the wire and screw, and remove the lock assembly button.

    3. Remove the tie-wrap and detach the wire remote.
  11. Remove the hog rings, then remove the cover backrest rear seat.

  12. Referring to the above steps, disassemble the backrest assembly RH.
  13. Remove the hog rings on the back side of the rear seat cushion assembly.

  14. Remove the hog rings, then remove the cover cushion rear seat.
    CAUTION: If the seating sensor mat is removed, replace the pad and frame assembly rear cushion and the seating sensor mat with new parts. If the seating sensor mat is reused, the detection may not operate properly.
