DTC B2540: HFS Electrostatic Capacitance Failure

DTC detecting condition: 

When malfunction in the handsfree sensor is detected.

Trouble symptom: 

Operation by the handsfree sensor is not possible.

1. CHECK DTC  .
   1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
   2. Read the DTC of [Power Rear Gate] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to Power Rear Gate (Diagnostics)>Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) .

   Is DTC B2540 displayed? (Current malfunction)

   Yes:  Go to  2 .

   No:  Even if DTC is displayed, the circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.

   NOTE: In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, temporary open or short circuit of harness may be the cause.
2. CHECK HANDSFREE SENSOR  .

   Check that the operation by the handsfree sensor is possible. Ref. to POWER REAR GATE SYSTEM>HANDSFREE POWER REAR GATE .

   Is the check result OK?

   Yes:  Even if DTC is displayed, the circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.

   NOTE: In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, temporary open or short circuit of harness may be the cause.

   No:  Replace the handsfree sensor. Ref. to POWER REAR GATE SYSTEM>HANDSFREE POWER REAR GATE .
