Sunroof Assembly: Removal

CAUTION:
  • Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
  • When removing the clip, use great care not to damage the trim panel sub assembly.
  1. Completely close the lid assembly, and open the shade assembly.
  2. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to GROUND TERMINAL REMOVAL OR INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove the lid assembly. Ref. to SUNROOF/T-TOP/CONVERTIBLE TOP (SUNROOF)>Glass Lid>REMOVAL>GLASS LID .
  4. Remove the trim panel sub assembly. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>ROOF TRIM>REMOVAL .
  5. Disconnect the harness connector of the motor assembly.
  6. Remove the bolt securing the curtain airbag module.
    CAUTION:
    • Do not remove the clips securing the curtain airbag module. If any of the clips are removed, the curtain airbag module may not deploy properly in collision. If the clip is removed, replace the curtain airbag module assembly.
    • Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
    • Be careful not to damage the curtain airbag module during removal.

  7. Remove the tube drain.
    NOTE: When removing the tube drain completely, perform the step 9.

  8. Remove the frame sunroof.
    1. Remove the bolts, and then remove the bracket sunroof.

    2. Remove the bolts, and then remove the frame sunroof.

  9. Remove the tube drain.
NOTE: For easy replacement work, attach a string when pulling the tube drain.
  1. Remove the cover side sill front FT and the cover side sill front RR. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>LOWER INNER TRIM>REMOVAL .
  2. Disconnect each connector, bolt and clip, then remove the connector holder.
  3. Remove the tube drain front.
  4. Remove the mat floor CTR, mat rear floor side, cover trunk and spacer rear floor side. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>REAR QUARTER TRIM>REMOVAL .
  5. Remove the tube drain rear.
