IMPREZA Model

  1. Remove the dust seal - front strut.
  2. Loosen the nut for a strut mount - front by 2 turns.

  3. Lift up the vehicle, and then remove the front wheels.
  4. Remove the under cover - front. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>FRONT UNDER COVER>REMOVAL .
  5. Remove the crossmember support - rear. Ref. to FRONT SUSPENSION>CROSSMEMBER SUPPORT>REMOVAL .
  6. Disconnect the tie-rod end.
    CAUTION:
    • Be careful not to damage the boot of the ball joint.
    • Securely hook the ball joint puller (e) to the collar (f).
    1. Remove the cotter pin (a).
    2. Remove the castle nut (b) and washer (c).
    3. Using a ball joint puller (e), detach the tie-rod end (d).

  7. Remove the left and right stabilizer links (bottom part).

  8. Remove the flange nut on the bottom of the ball joint.
    NOTE:
    • To prevent damage of the front arm ball joint boot, place a wooden block, etc. between front arm and ball joint.
    • Mark the engaging position of the ball joint and front arm assembly before loosening the flange nuts. Doing so will facilitate aligning the position when assembling and lessen adjusting allowance for wheel alignment.

  9. Remove the drive shaft. Ref. to DRIVE SHAFT SYSTEM>FRONT DRIVE SHAFT>REMOVAL .
  10. Remove the ball joint.
NOTE: Securely hook the ball joint puller (e) to the collar (f).
  1. Pull out the snap pin (a), and remove the flange nut (b) and washer (c).
  2. Use a ball joint puller (e) to detach the ball joint (d).

  3. Pull out the ball joint.
