Crank Pulley: Installation
- Degrease the press-fit section for the chain cover front oil seal, and install a new front oil seal to the chain cover using a special tool (ST).CAUTION: Do not apply fluid such as engine oil to the front oil seal and the chain cover; otherwise engine oil leakage may occur.
Preparation tool:
ST: SPECIAL TOOL B (41399FG020) Front oil seal press-fit position:
1+0-1 mm (0.0394+0-0.0394 in) position from chain cover end face
- Clean the crankshaft thread using compressed air.
- Apply engine oil to the crank pulley bolt seat and thread.
- Install the crank pulley.
- Use a marker to add lines at the portion of the crank pulley bolt head that has no indented line, as shown in the figure.NOTE:
- Lines are indented by 90° on the crank pulley bolt head.
- To minimize an angular error, use a ruler, etc. to draw a straight line.
- Set the crank pulley to the chain cover.
- Use the ST1 and ST2 to lock the crank pulley, and temporarily tighten the crank pulley bolt.NOTE: To prevent damaging ST1, attach the ST2 onto the ST1 as shown in the figure.
Preparation tool:
ST1: PULLEY WRENCH (18355AA000)
ST2: PULLEY WRENCH PIN SET (18334AA000)
Tightening torque:
20 N.m (2.0 kgf-m, 14.8 ft-lb)
- Draw reference lines (A) and (B) using a marker to set the socket to the crank pulley bolt as shown in the figure.NOTE: Use a 6-point socket to tighten the crank pulley bolt so that a 12-point socket may otherwise be broken.
- As shown in the figure, use a marker with a different color than in step (1) to draw a reference line (C) on the crank pulley bolt, according to the reference line (A) and the indented line or additional line on the crank pulley bolt head. Then draw a end line (D) on the crank pulley, using the reference line (B) and the indented line or additional line on the crank pulley bolt head as a reference.NOTE: Reference line (C) is drawn for prevention of misidentification and better visibility.
- Use the ST1 and ST2 to lock the crank pulley, and tighten the crank pulley bolt until the reference line (C) and end line (D) are aligned.NOTE: It should be approx. 120° when reference line (C) and end line (D) are aligned.
Preparation tool:
ST1: PULLEY WRENCH (18355AA000)
ST2: PULLEY WRENCH PIN SET (18334AA000)
Tightening angle:
120°±5°
- Use a marker to add lines at the portion of the crank pulley bolt head that has no indented line, as shown in the figure.
- Install the V-belts. Ref. to MECHANICAL (H4DOTC)>V-belt>INSTALLATION>V-BELT .
- When working on the vehicleNOTE: When working on the vehicle, perform the following steps also.
- Install the air intake duct. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DOTC)>Air Intake Duct>INSTALLATION .
