Section 16 (Engine Starting System & Charging System): Starter: Removal

  1. Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NO: TE>BATTERY .
  2. Remove the intercooler. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DOTC)>INTERCOOLER>REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the center exhaust pipe (rear). Ref. to EXHAUST (H4DOTC)>CENTER EXHAUST PIPE>REMOVAL>CENTER EXHAUST PIPE (REAR) .
    NOTE:

    This procedure is necessary to use the torque wrench during the installation. 

  4. Remove the bolts securing the CVTF cooler pipe. (Model with CVTF cooler (air cool))

  5. Remove the nut or bolt on the lower side of the starter.
    • CVT model

  6. Disconnect the connector (A), terminal B (B) and ground terminal (C).
    CAUTION:

    In order to prevent damaging the ground terminal, fix the ground terminal when loosing the bolt, and avoid the part from rotating together while loosening the bolt.

  7. Remove the starter together with the cable stay (A).
    NOTE:

    Remove from the upper side of the vehicle.
