Power Rear Gate Rod: Removal

  1. Hold the rear gate to the fully open position.
  2. Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  3. Release the claws and then remove the cover - rear quarter pillar PRG.

  4. Remove the rod - power rear gate.
    CAUTION:
    • Using a small flat tip screwdriver wrapped with protective tape, remove the part by gradually applying force.
    • When the rod - power rear gate is removed, it could lead to abnormal play or noise. Therefore, always replace the stop ring with a new part. Also, be sure to check the clearance of the stop ring before installing. Ref. to POWER REAR GATE SYSTEM>Power Rear Gate Rod>INSTALLATION .
    1. Press down the rod - power rear gate to the ball stud (bracket rod - power rear gate).
    2. With the rod pressed, remove the stop ring while sliding along the ball housing groove.
    3. Disconnect the rod - power rear gate from the ball stud (bracket rod - power rear gate).
