Oil Pan

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from battery. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  2. Drain engine coolant. Ref. to COOLING (H4DO)>ENGINE COOLANT>REPLACEMENT>DRAINING OF ENGINE COOLANT .
  3. Drain the engine oil. Ref. to LUBRICATION (H4DO)>ENGINE OIL>REPLACEMENT .
  4. Remove the center water pipe. Ref. to COOLING (H4DO)>WATER PIPE>REMOVAL>CENTER WATER PIPE .
  5. Remove the stabilizers. Ref. to FRONT SUSPENSION>STABILIZER>REMOVAL .
  6. Remove the bolts which hold the oil pan.

  7. Insert an oil pan seal cutter into the gap between oil pan and oil pan upper, and remove the oil pan.
    CAUTION:
    • Do not use the tools other than the oil pan seal cutter, in order to prevent damaging the oil pan and oil pan upper.
    • Do not twist with excessive force. The oil pan may be deformed.
    NOTE: When removing, open the front side of the oil pan first, in order to avoid the interference with the oil strainer  .
  8. Remove the gasket from the oil pan.

  9. Remove the liquid gasket from the oil pan and the oil pan upper.
  10. When removing the oil strainer
    1. Remove the chain cover. Ref. to MECHANICAL (H4DO)>CHAIN COVER>REMOVAL .
    2. Remove the oil strainer.
