Oil Level Switch: Removal
CAUTION:
If the engine oil is spilt over the engine, exhaust pipe or the under cover, completely wipe it off to avoid emission of smoke or causing a fire.
- Remove the striker - front hood. Refer to EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>FRONT HOOD>DISASSEMBLY .
- Fully open the front hood. Refer to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>FRONT HOOD STAY .
- Collect the refrigerant. (Hybrid model) Refer to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>REFRIGERANT RECOVERY PROCEDURE>PROCEDURE .
- Disconnect the ground terminal from battery. Refer to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Remove the V-belt covers. (Except for hybrid model)
- Remove the collector cover. (Hybrid model) Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>COLLECTOR COVER>REMOVAL .
- Remove the air intake duct. Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>AIR INTAKE DUCT>REMOVAL .
- Remove the clip from the air intake boot, and loosen the clamp.
- Remove the air intake boot, and place it aside so that it does not interfere with the work.CAUTION: Be careful not to pull out the PCV hose.
- Remove the TCM. (Except for hybrid model (CVT model)) Refer to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR580)>TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM)>REMOVAL .
- Turn the transmission harness clockwise till the bolt hole can be seen as shown in the figure, and tighten the bolt to temporary lock the harness. (Except for hybrid model (CVT model))
- Remove the pitching stopper. (MT model and hybrid model)
5MT model:
Refer to MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND DIFFERENTIAL (5MT)>TRANSMISSION MOUNTING SYSTEM>REMOVAL>PITCHING STOPPER .
6MT model:
Refer to MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND DIFFERENTIAL (6MT)>TRANSMISSION MOUNTING SYSTEM>REMOVAL>PITCHING STOPPER .
Hybrid model:
Refer to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TH2A)>TRANSMISSION MOUNTING SYSTEM>REMOVAL>PITCHING STOPPER .
- Remove the bolt securing the transmission bracket. (Hybrid model)NOTE: This procedure is required to prevent the transmission bracket and earth cord from being damaged during engine removal/installation.
- Remove the A/C accumulator assembly. (Hybrid model) Refer to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>ACCUMULATOR>REMOVAL .
- Drain the engine oil. Refer to LUBRICATION (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>ENGINE OIL>REPLACEMENT .
- Remove the front exhaust pipe. Refer to EXHAUST (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>FRONT EXHAUST PIPE>REMOVAL .
- Remove the nuts which secure the engine mounting to the front crossmember. (CVT model)
- Remove the nuts which secure the engine mounting to the front crossmember. (MT model)
- Remove the electric power steering gearbox. Refer to POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM (POWER STEERING)>ELECTRIC POWER STEERING GEARBOX>REMOVAL .
- Attach the ST1 and ST2. (Except for hybrid model)
Preparation tool:
ST1: BOLT (18363AA050)
ST2: HANGER (18360AA040)
Tightening torque:
43 N.m (4.4 kgf-m, 31.7 ft-lb)
- Lift up the engine with a lifting device and wire ropes.CAUTION: When lifting up the engine, pay attention to the clearance of each part and be careful not to lift the engine too much, in order to prevent damaging the vehicle.
- Remove the engine mounting LH.
- Disconnect the connector and remove the clips.
- Remove the clip to remove the oil level switch.
