Instrument Panel Assembly: Installation

CAUTION:
  • Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to  AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION 
  • Be careful not to damage the airbag system harness when servicing the instrument panel. Damage may cause the system to malfunction. 
  1. Install the beam steering COMPL.
    NOTE:

    The beam steering COMPL is heavy. Work in a team of two persons when placing it inside the vehicle, so as not to damage the vehicle interior. 

    1. Place the beam steering COMPL on the vehicle, and check that the pins on both sides are inserted securely and the harness is routed properly.
    2. Connect each connector.
    3. Secure the beam steering COMPL to the heater and cooling unit assembly.

      Tightening torque: 

      7.5 N.m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)

    4. Install the ground bolt and the body integrated unit (fuse & relay box).

      Tightening torque: 

      Ground bolt: 13 N.m (1.3 kgf-m, 9.6 ft-lb)

      Body integrated unit (fuse & relay box): 7.5 N.m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)

    5. Temporarily tighten the bolts of the beam steering COMPL.
    6. Using the hexagon wrench, tighten the adjuster portion (a) of the adjuster clip space. (LH side of the beam steering COMPL)
      NOTE:

      When the TORX® bolt is tightened after setting the adjuster portion (a) of the adjuster clip space to the free position, the adjuster is secured at the position where there is no gap to the body, and then the TORX® bolt is tightened. 

      Tightening torque: 

      Adjuster clip space: 0.8 - 4 N.m (0.08 - 0.4 kgf-m, 0.6 - 3 ft-lb)

    7. Tighten the beam steering COMPL in the order from (b) to (e) to the specified torque.

      Tightening torque: 

      25 N.m (2.5 kgf-m, 18.4 ft-lb)

  2. Install the duct rear heater front. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>AIR VENT DUCT>INSTALLATION>REAR DUCT
  3. Install the instrument panel assembly.
    CAUTION:

    Be careful not to allow the harness to be caught. 

    1. Align the matching pins on the body side (three locations - one in the center and the remaining two on both sides) with the panel COMPL instrument.
    2. Install the bolts of the center information display.

      Tightening torque: 

      7.5 N.m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)

    3. Install the screws, harness clips, and connectors.
    4. Install the passenger's airbag module, and connect the connector. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>AIRBAG CONNECTOR>PROCEDURE>PASSENGER'S AIRBAG MODULE, REAR SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER, FRONT SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER & ADAPTIVE FORCE LIMITER

      Tightening torque: 

      7.5 N.m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)

  4. Install the central gateway control module. Ref. to BODY CONTROL/COMMUNICATION SYSTEM>CENTRAL GATEWAY CONTROL MODULE>INSTALLATION
  5. Install the GPS antenna assembly. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>ANTENNA>INSTALLATION>GPS ANTENNA
  6. Install the EyeSight assist monitor. Ref. to EYESIGHT>EYESIGHT ASSIST MONITOR>INSTALLATION
  7. Install the grille front defroster. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>SUNLOAD SENSOR (AUTO A/C MODEL)>INSTALLATION
  8. Install the column assembly steering. Ref. to POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM (POWER STEERING)>STEERING COLUMN>INSTALLATION
  9. Install the speaker assembly tweeter and the grille speaker side. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>FRONT SPEAKER>INSTALLATION>TWEETER
  10. Install the trim panel assembly A pillar. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>UPPER INNER TRIM>INSTALLATION>A PILLAR TRIM 
  11. Install the panel instrument passenger and pocket COMPL. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>GLOVE BOX>INSTALLATION>BACK PANEL 
  12. Install the weather strip body side flange front. Ref. to EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>WEATHER STRIP>REPLACEMENT
  13. Install the cover side sill front Rr and the cover side sill front Ft. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>LOWER INNER TRIM>INSTALLATION 
  14. Install the steering wheel assembly. Ref. to POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM (POWER STEERING)>STEERING WHEEL>INSTALLATION
  15. Install the driver's airbag module. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>DRIVER'S AIRBAG MODULE>INSTALLATION
  16. Install the knee airbag module assembly. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>KNEE AIRBAG MODULE>INSTALLATION
  17. Install the tray center UPR. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>EXTERNAL CONNECTION TERMINAL>INSTALLATION>FRONT
  18. Install the cover center side. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>CENTER CONSOLE>INSTALLATION 
  19. Install the backup unit assembly. Ref. to SECURITY AND LOCKS>BACKUP UNIT>INSTALLATION
  20. Install the telematics sub antenna assembly. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>ANTENNA>INSTALLATION>TELEMATICS SUB ANTENNA
  21. Install the combination meter assembly. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>COMBINATION METER>INSTALLATION
  22. Install the cover LWR driver. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>INSTRUMENT PANEL LOWER COVER>INSTALLATION 
  23. Install the ornament panel mid driver assembly and cover assembly instrument panel side LH. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>AIR VENT GRILLE>INSTALLATION>SIDE GRILLE
  24. Install the center information display assembly. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>COCKPIT DISPLAY>INSTALLATION
  25. Install the panel assembly center and cover assembly instrument panel side RH panel assembly center. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>CENTER CLUSTER>INSTALLATION 
  26. Install the console box assembly. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>CONSOLE BOX>INSTALLATION 
  27. Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY
