How To Troubleshoot
- Bring in the car
- Interview and phenomenon check
- Basic inspection
- Check the battery voltage.
Voltage: 11 to 14 V
NOTE:- By sounding the horn, it is easy to check whether the battery is flat.
- If the battery voltage is less than 11 V, please recharge or replace it.
- Inspect any parts that can be checked visually such as blown fuses, wiring harness open circuit, short circuits, or poor connector contacts.
- Check the battery voltage.
- CAN communication system functionality check
- Inspect the CAN communication system. (Refer to
HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT

Result Go to No diagnosis code output (ECM not connected, CAN communication malfunction, and ECM communication malfunction/interruption). A Diagnosis code output (ECM not connected, CAN communication malfunction, or ECM communication malfunction/interruption). B - Go to next step

- Diagnosis code check
- Use the SSM4 to check and record the diagnosis codes. (Refer to
CHECKING/CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC CODES )RESULT DESCRIPTION
Result Go to No diagnosis code output (Able to check or recreate the trouble phenomenon) A No diagnosis code output (Unable to check or recreate the trouble phenomenon) B Diagnosis code output (Steering lock system malfunction) C NOTE:- When a steering lock system diagnosis code is output, please refer to the LIST OF DIAGNOSIS CODES ( ).
- The steering lock actuator ASSY (Steering lock ECM) does not store past diagnostics.
- Go to next step
- Conduct a malfunction simulation (Refer to MALFUNCTION SYMPTOMS AND DTC CHECK )
- Progress to the "list of diagnostic codes". (Refer to LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC CODES )
- Use the SSM4 to check and record the diagnosis codes. (Refer to
CHECKING/CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC CODES )
- Symptom table
- Check whether the trouble phenomenon applies to the items listed in the symptom table. (For the SYMPTOM TABLE , please refer to

- Based on the trouble phenomenon, use the following methods to perform troubleshooting
- Data monitor/active test (Refer to DATA MONITOR/ACTIVE TEST )
- ECM terminal arrangement (Refer to ECM TERMINAL ARRANGEMENT )
- Adjustment, repair, or replacement
- Diagnosis codes recheck
- Using SSM4, clear the diagnostic code. (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC CODES )
- Recheck the diagnosis codes (Refer to
LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC CODES )NOTE: Check the output for each diagnosis code. (Refer to LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC CODES )RESULT DESCRIPTION
