DTC B2244: Amplifier Communication

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Subaru WRX. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

DTC detecting condition:

Detected when communication is not possible with the audio amplifier.

Trouble symptom:

Sound does not come out from the speaker.

Wiring diagram:

CAUTION:

Before performing diagnosis, refer to "CAUTION" in "General Description". Ref. to  COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION

  1. CHECK FUSE  .

Check the fuse. Ref. to WIRING SYSTEM>AUDIO AND NAVIGATION SYSTEM>WIRING DIAGRAM

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes  : Go to  2.

No  : Replace the fuse. If the replaced fuse blows out easily, repair the ground short circuit in the harness between the battery and audio amplifier.

  2. CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .
    1. Disconnect the cockpit control module connector (i101).
    2. Disconnect the audio amplifier connector (R82).
    3. Using the tester, measure the resistance of harness between cockpit control module connector (i101) and audio amplifier connector (R82).

      Connector & terminal

      (i101) No. 14 - (R82) No. 8:

      (i101) No. 15 - (R82) No. 7:

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

    Yes  : Go to  3.

No  : Repair the open circuit in harness between cockpit control module connector and audio amplifier.

  3. CHECK HARNESS (GROUND SHORT CIRCUIT)  .

Using the tester, measure the resistance between cockpit control module connector (i101) and chassis ground.

    Connector & terminal

    (i101) No. 14 - Chassis ground:

    (i101) No. 15 - Chassis ground:

Is the resistance 1 Ω or more?

    Yes  : Go to  4.

No  : Repair the short circuit to ground in harness between cockpit control module connector and audio amplifier.

  4. CHECK HARNESS (SHORT CIRCUIT TO POWER SUPPLY)  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Using the tester, measure the voltage between cockpit control module connector (i101) and chassis ground. (With each connector disconnected)

      Connector & terminal

      (i101) No. 14 (+) - Chassis ground (-):

      (i101) No. 15 (+) - Chassis ground (-):

Is the resistance 1 Ω or more?

    Yes  : Go to  5.

No  : Repair the short to power supply in harness between cockpit control module connector and audio amplifier.

  5. CHECK DTC  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Connect all the disconnected connectors.
    3. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the clear memory of [Cockpit Control]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>CLEAR MEMORY
    4. Turn the ignition switch OFF → ON.
    5. Read the DTC of [Cockpit Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)

Is DTC B2244 displayed? (Current code)

Yes  : Replace the audio amplifier. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>POWER AMPLIFIER

No  : Even if DTC is displayed, the circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.

    NOTE:

In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, temporary open or short circuit of harness may be the cause.
