Steering Wheel: Removal
- Correct handling and precautions for operationWARNING: As this maintenance procedure may have an effect on the SRS airbag system, be sure to check the SRS airbag system precautions before commencing work. (Refer to SRS AIRBAG SYSTEM )
- Confirm that the front tires are in the straight-ahead position.
- Disconnection of the battery ground terminalWARNING: As the airbag and pretensioner system is equipped with a back-up power supply, if you start work within 60 seconds of disconnecting the battery ground terminal, the airbag may accidentally deploy.CAUTION: To prevent damage to the moldings, completely wind down both the driver's and passenger's door windows.
- Remove the driver's airbag module. (Refer to DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG MODULE )
- Removal of the steering wheel assembly
- Undo the nut and place an alignment mark over the steering wheel assembly and steering column assembly.
- Disconnect each connector from the steering roll connector.
- Use a steering wheel puller to remove the steering wheel assembly.
- Remove the transmission shift switch (with paddle shifter). (Refer to TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH )
- Remove the cruise control main switch (Refer to CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH )
