Tumble Generator Valve Assembly: Removal

  1. Release the fuel pressure. < Ref. to RELEASING OF FUEL PRESSURE , PROCEDURE, Fuel.>
  2. Disconnect the ground cable from battery. < Ref. to BATTERY , NOTE, Note.>
    NOTE: For the 12 volt engine restart battery, disconnect the ground terminal from 12V engine restart battery sensor.
  3. Remove the collector cover.
    1. Pull up the two points at the front of collector cover (A).
    2. Pull up the two points at the rear of collector cover (B) while moving them rearward.
      NOTE: Be careful not to contact the fuel delivery tube when moving the collector cover rearward.

  4. Open the fuel filler lid and remove the fuel filler cap.
  5. Remove the intake manifold. < Ref. to REMOVAL , Intake Manifold.>
  6. Disconnect the connector (A) from the tumble generator valve assembly RH.
  7. Remove the tumble generator valve assembly RH from the cylinder head.

  8. Remove the cylinder head plate from cylinder head RH.

  9. Remove the tumble generator valve assembly LH and cylinder head plate in the same manner.
